FreshDirect is an online grocery site that delivers to residences and offices in the New York City metropolitan area. FreshDirect offers next-day delivery to most of Manhattan and parts of Brooklyn, Queens, The Bronx , Staten Island, Nassau County, Westchester County , Hoboken, New Jersey and Jersey City, New Jersey . The company was founded in 2002 by Joe Fedele and Jason Ackerman. The company claims to follow USDA guidelines and the HACCP food safety system in all its fresh storage and production rooms. FreshDirect requires the minimum order is $50. Delivery cost is $9.99 Tuesday through Friday and $14.99 on Monday. FreshDirect also delivers numerous Kosher foods. The company now has almost 2,000 employees, 250,000 customers, and has accomplished more than 6,000,000 orders.
